More Creativity...In The Kitchen.

Whether it was paint, film, or food, Joseph remembers from a very early age that he just couldn’t wait to get his hands "dirty". His memories of being in the kitchen with his family, including his grandfather (right), are as strong as the wonderful aromas they were creating. As he got older it became another soulful way to be creative, an outlet that allowed him to “explore the physical beauty of food.”

“The thought of taking a lot of ‘pieces’ and putting them together to create a finished product is immensely satisfying to me,” he says. “So is watching the look on peoples faces as they taste things. To be complimented on a food, a photograph, or a plaster creation, is worth its weight in gold. The other reason I love food is that it brings the family to the table. The biggest compliment I can give someone is to invite him or her to sit around my table. Food peaks all of your senses – it is very intimate.”

"Here it is: you’re eight years old, it’s 7:00am on Thursday morning. Before you walk to school you stop in Nona’s house. Before you open the door, the one distinct aroma you smell is the polpetta (flattened fried meatball before it hits the sauce, so hot it burns the s--- out of your lips). You enter the house, get closer to the kitchen and there is a symphony of smells. Your head is filled with so much joy you can hardly stand it. You hover to the table, sit down and inhale a scorching polpetta – or three, thank Nona and walk to school. Life does not get any better than that. Mind you, that is only one morning. Oh, the joy.”
